In which we meet the girl’s parents and friends and see her eyes drift out of a moonlit window.

As she tried to hold the image of the boy trapped on her retina, Elisa was whisked away by her mother. “We have everything on the list, no reason to stay on this stinky square”, whispered Elisa’s mother to avoid being overheard by the mass around them. Elisa blinked, reached out with her eyes and heart, but the sight of George’s soft features now seemed little more than a ghost. “What are you standing there silly?”, smiled her mother. She took her favorite daughter by the arm and led her out of the market.

At home Elisa at once called for her best friend, Sophie. Now there was not a secret in the world these two would not share at the drop of a hat, and yet never had Elisa had so much difficulty to explain just how she felt. “What is it with you today?”, said Sophie while brushing her Elisa’s hair, “You’re so distracted and so… not here.”
“It’s… I’ve… forget it, it’s just a dream.”

How ironic was it then that sleep and its countless dreams were unattainable for Elisa, as she sat on her bed looking out the window at the giant satellite that hung over the earth. Would she be able to see him from there? Was he looking at the same bright spot on the moon’s surface? Such was the gravity of the questions that kept her company through the night.
